State tax commission proposed to separate state from county taxes
Austin Texas Feb 17 considerable interest is expressed in a proposed constitutional amendment to create a state tax commission or state board of equalization of five members. The amendment by Senator Harley Comal county and backed by the Texas Assessors Association would separate state from county taxes and allow the legislature to pass laws enabling the state to collect from each county a fair revenue share based on taxable values.
