Three Georgetown men who escaped Williamson County Jail last Monday were indicted for Escape by a grand jury Tuesday night. All three remained in police or public safety custody within about an hour after the breakout. One had been awaiting trial for the slaying of a Southwestern University student and turned himself in soon after. The other two were arrested near Waco about an hour later.
Falls County officials seek an unidentified Black male in a Tuesday morning hospital break in where a nurse confronted him, a knife slashed arm, and the burglar fled after rifling a medicine cabinet in a treatment room. There was nothing reportedly taken.
An all new 55 bed facility costing 2.6 million dollars was formally opened in Gatesville with a brief ceremony and an open house for the public. The hospital marks a milestone in Coryell County health care.

Two truck crashes on wet roads Friday caused no injuries. A Sears truck left Cameron city limits, rolled in a field after crossing SH 36. driver L D Donnell of Maybank was unharmed and gasoline leaked to prompt a fire response. A Central Freight truck near Milano stayed upright. driver James Clay was unhurt.
Cameron school absences remain high with a total of 305 on Friday up from 304 last Tuesday. Yoe High 65, O J Thomas 78, Ada Henderson 85, and Ben Milam 77 reported absent due to a flu like illness. Ada Henderson decreased while other totals rose as health officials seek identification of the illness amid 90 cases reported by private physicians last week. The disease brings muscle aches, headaches, fever, sore throat, and a dry cough lasting about a week. Authorities plan to offer a bivalent vaccine to seniors and chronically ill once consent forms arrive, despite HEW continuing the national vaccine moratorium. An AA group may form in Cameron. call Ernest at 697 3741 for interest.
City officials estimate about 10 000 dollars are needed to provide warning and regulatory signs to meet the Uniform Traffic Control Code. Of that amount 6180.85 dollars will be reimbursed by the State after purchase, installation and inspection. City code officer Ed Bigbee notes 98 percent of signs must be replaced and the new signs will be reflective to satisfy federal standards.
Milam County December unemployment stood at 3.5 percent with a civilian work force of 8,138. Of those, 7,857 were employed and 281 were out of work. Texas statewide rate was 5.2 percent while the national rate reached 7.4 percent.

Milam County students will distribute membership cards this week to raise funds for the Milam County Museum. Memberships are set at $2 for a family and $1 for individuals.
Two men, Donald Hart of Copeland and Billy Allen of Thorndale, had bond set at 1500 dollars each after a burglary charge tied to 1500 dollars stolen from Mrs Freida Brooks's car. Sheriff Broadus named the suspects. 400 dollars of the stolen money was recovered. Both suspects remain in the county jail as police detailed the Thorndale arrest.
Two Kalamazoo Michigan men waived indictment by the grand jury and pleaded guilty in district court to possession of more than four ounces of marijuana. Kirk Douglas Brady and Amos Jones were found guilty and sentenced to three years in the Texas Department of Corrections, suspended, and placed on probation after paying costs.
