A promotional piece urges young women to choose independence over marriage by enrolling in Tyler Commercial College. It touts practical training in bookkeeping, shorthand, telegraphy, real estate, banking, and office technology, plus placement support and moral safeguards.
Friday and Saturday a spelling match between Cameron and Rockdale pupils will be held in Rockdale. Friday evening seventh grade and second year high school entrants include Mary Lyles Mildred Chambers Gladys McLarrin Lucile Wilson Jewel Osborn Lee Evans Sam Brewer Maidie Weaver Lois Striblens Maurine House Anna Leo Baskin Jessie Loewensteen Reba Cheeves Bernice Evans. Chew's Practical Speller will be used with Mr. D A Huddleston of Minerva in charge.
By order of the Travis County District Court a mortgage judgment of $5,079.84 with interest from December 7 1915 and costs will be enforced via sale on March 7 1916 at Cameron Milam County Courthouse. The lands include Lot Nos 8 and 9 in Block 4 Washington Heights Rockdale and a parcel in Justo Liendo Four League Grant Thorndale with described metes and bounds. Proceeds to satisfy the judgment with net credit of $19.50.
