Funds are needed for planting a Yee High horseshoe memorial to the late Hilliard Thomas former Cameron school board president. Evergreen shrubs will replace old rose bushes. James Kahler and Donald Glass prepare plans. Several hundred dollars have been raised, contributions can be made at the superintendent's office.
Cameron Cub Scouts announce a Blue and Gold Banquet on Monday February 12 at 7 p.m. in the Methodist Fellowship Hall. John Henderson Jr. says the program includes Famous Americans awards and Webeloes graduation recognitions for ten boys plus three new Webeloes leaders. Ron Derry notes February is Boy Scout Month but no special observance planned.
Four Milam County watershed groups in Lower Brusny Donahoe Creek Pond Creek and Elm Creek secure state charters to manage about 200000 acres 33 percent of the county. Four floodwater retarding structures have been built and two sediment areas treated as part of a plan to cut annual flood area by 75 percent with federal state and landowner cooperation.
