Post Office Runs Out Of Federal Stamps For Automobiles

Automobile owners faced stamp shortages as Cameron Post Office ran out of federal automobile stamps. Postmaster J R Hays expected a new supply by Wednesday or Thursday. Over 3000 stamps were sold locally and other counties reported shortages. The cause and timing of restock remain unclear. The Austin supply will arrive when issued.

Agnes Zalkovsky dies at 77 in Cameron area

Mrs. Agnes Zalkovsky, 77, died at her farm home east of Cameron on Tuesday February 3, 1942. Funeral services will be at St. Monica's Church February 5 at 9 a.m. with Rev. George J. Duda. She is survived by husband Frank Zakovsky and brothers Charles and Frank Gelner. Burial in Cameron Catholic cemetery.

War News Tells of Cousin’s Whereabouts With MacArthur

Cameron attorney Mose G. Cox reads in the Houston Post that his cousin Col. Carl H. Seals now with General Douglas MacArthur is in the Philippines. Seals, a staff member, has been recommended for brigadier general. Cox notes they hadn’t heard from each other in 50 years. Seals is a native of Eugala Alabama and a cousin of Mrs. T. B. Mrs Kemp of Waco to Observe 80th Birthday

Mrs. M. M. Kemp of Waco will observe her 80th birthday on February 6, with many friends in Cameron wishing her happiness. Reared in Cameron she lived there until a few years ago and now resides at 1614 West Ave. Waco. About a year ago she fell and broke her hip and has been bedbound but is now taking a few steps.

Milam County reports heavy civilian registration but card shortages blocked about one third of eligible voters last Saturday. Emory B. Camp, Milam County Defense Council chair, says precincts turned away due to card limits.
