County voters face no contested school board races as of now with an April 4 election day. Sapp and McDermott seek re-election. Martin already serves as School Board Secretary and was elected in 1968. Several precincts and towns report expirations with no filings yet.
Central Texas saw record afternoon highs after a chilly week with a 28 degree Friday low. Cameron hit 82 on Wednesday, far from the 90 degree winter high in 1954, as flu-like illnesses rise with fluctuating winter temperatures and noted in Milam County.
Dr. J. L. Nigliezzo announced plans to open a medical practice in Rockdale. He has been tied to Newton Clinic in Cameron since 1962 and will lease the former Dr. T. C. Green offices. He aims to open by mid week and plans to move to Rockdale in the future while the Niglazzo family stays in Cameron for now.
A Cameron PTA meeting on February 5 will host a panel moderated by Supt. K. Dodson to chart the district's future needs. Members include Hilliard Thomas Colman Duncum Mrs. Herbert Nance and E A Perrin. The discussion will cover cafeterias auditoriums kindergarten expansion vocational programs and August school starts.

Tickets at door 75 cents for students 1 25 for adults with Little League official Bill Alford noting the event.
Wayne Brinkley age 23 joins Cameron Police Department as patrolman replacing Jack Brooks who moved to Angleton. Brinkley is married and has one child.
A profile of Tex Miller, Cameron’s famed hamburger man, detailing his start in business, the creation of his North Fannin stand, and his claim of selling about two million hamburgers in thirty years. Rev H J Swink of Olney Texas was called as pastor of the First Christian Church Cameron and began duties February 1. He and his wife and son moved to Cameron from Olney where he led a church for a year and also served Archer City.
Cameron schools operate month to month for federally funded programs after a veto of the Health Education and Welfare bill last Monday. They were approved for 105,044 this school year, but funds arrive at about 10,000 monthly awaiting the education appropriation. Superintendent D. R. Dodson says the January 31 deadline for emergency funding has likely been extended pending passage of an appropriation bill. The monthly allotment covers administration aids food and supplies under Title 1. A further request of 9,050 has been tentatively approved for equipment and supplies.
