B P Matocha is a Cameron attorney candidate for city attorney in the February 7 city primary. A Milam county native and Cameron bar member, he vows to serve with diligence and protect residents’ rights and properties, aiming to meet voters or rely on support if time limits prevent canvassing.

R B Mayes Buried In Milam County

Funeral services for R B Mayes were held Sunday at Maysfield with burial at Little River Cemetery. He died January 20 1928 of pneumonia at age 49, survived by his widow Kittie Belle Newton Mayes and several children and siblings.

Basketball Tournament In Cameron Saturday

The Boy's Basketball tournament will be held in Cameron Saturday under the University Interscholastic League. The Friday games were postponed due to rain and L. Van Perkins leads the arrangements for the Cameron events with further games planned the following Saturday in Cameron.

Finn Beats Miller In Gruelling Match At Cameron

Karhunsaari defeated Vic Miller after a 42 minute bout in Cameron where Miller was injured and could not return after the rest period. The crowd witnessed the largest turnout for a Cameron wrestling event as Finn showed craft and prevailed. A boxing exhibition between Joe Montana and John Dees drew fan interest with a potential rematch anticipated.

Magic Charm Operetta At Yee High School

The Ada Henderson Grammar School pupils present The Magic Charm a two act operetta at Yee High School on February 7 at eight o clock. Cast features about one hundred children from the last four grades directed by Miss Lucille Peterson and Miss Ethel Jenkins. Admission 15 and 25 cents. proceeds support the school music department and auditorium.

Adrian long time Santa Fe employee exits Cameron and heads to Blair Texas to assume road operator duties. Mrs Adrian and their young daughter stay in Cameron for a few weeks while he starts his new role.

Two Milam Schools Declared Standard

State official F Van Winkle completed scoring for Milam County. Buckholts and Hoyte met all requirements to become standard schools. Buckholts expanded to seven teachers and added home economics and manual training with J Frank Cook as principal and staff. Hoyte earned first class elementary status with strong staffing and district trustees. Transportation to high schools enabled longer class periods and nine month terms. Ellison Ridge and others provide similar plans, with drinking fountains and improved sanitation and lighting.

Paul Webb Seeks Re election for Cameron City Attorney

Paul Webb, Cameron city attorney for years, announces candidacy for reelection.
