H. E. Garner, 61, died at St. Edward Hospital Monday afternoon after a heart attack in a local business house. A native of Milam County born Buckholts May 25, 1889, he worked 31 years at the Cameron post office. He was a Methodist and Mason. Funeral at First Methodist Church Tuesday. Burial Oak Hill Cemetery. Survived by wife Jose phine Garner of Cameron, son Stone Garner of Hillsboro, mother A. J. Garner of Rockdale, sister Viola Lanning of Los Angeles, and four brothers Hicks Walter Homer and Patrick Garner. Pallbearers were Masonic Lodge members.

The Buckholts Gymnasium, built in 1940, was completely destroyed by a fire around 2 P M on Saturday January 27. Origin traced to the men’s dressing room upstairs. Cameron and Buckholts fire departments could not control it due to water shortages. Damage estimated at $20 000 with $10 000 insurance. nearby G I School suffered minor damage.

Governor Declares February Texas Heart Month
Governor Allan Shivers designated February as Texas Heart Month to support the 1951 Texas Heart Campaign led by the Texas Heart Association. Secretary of State John Ben Shepperd chairs the state campaign with a goal of 324000 dollars and events including Heart Week February 11 to 18.
