Largest grass fire in area history threatens Wimberly property
A 400 acre grass fire swept SH 36 near Milano Tuesday with Cameron and Milano firefighters saving a farm near the Wimberly property. Fire Marshal John Eanes cited probable defective wiring for a separate Monday roof blaze at 1704 West 6th Street. Five year old David Hollas of Temple underwent emergency eye surgery at Scott and White Hospital after piercing his eye with a wire from a cutter at home. Home family say injury extent will be known in two weeks.

. Funeral services for 97 year old Mrs. Josephine S. Duncan were held at 11 a.m. in the Phillips Luckey chapel Rockdale with Rev E B Brooks officiating. Burial followed in Sharp cemetery. She died Tuesday in an Austin hospital. Born March 15 1864 in Minden Louisiana she married W H Duncan May 12 1886 and lived in Milam County 75 years. Surviving are son Dallas Duncan Rockdale three daughters Mrs Sam Ash Warika Oklahoma Mrs Lenza Caffey Tracy and Mrs Andrew Garner San Gabriel 21 grandchildren 35 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Two grandsons died in World War II.
