The Donnie Warren Christmas fund, started by Knights of Pythias last week, attracts $1 donors from Cameron area for 17 year old Donnie crippled by a rare kidney ailment. City Council mulls public vote on Cameron meters removal

Council votes to seek a petition for a public vote on removing meters in Cameron downtown. Ballots show 30 in favor of removal, 26 for trial period, 20 to keep permanently, one vote stricken. Mayor Duncum and Councilman Griffith note mixed public sentiment and plan a spring election or three month trial beginning January 1.

Cameron Nursing Home Nears Completion

Construction of Cameron Nursing Home, a 3800 square foot single story fireproof facility on 11th Street, is to be completed by February if weather cooperates. The home will serve 20 patients in eight private and six semi private rooms with 24 hour licensed staffing under Texas Health Dept. regulations. The project features include a large living room, recreation room, kitchen, landscaped 105 by 105 lot, white exterior, pink brick front, and a backyard.

Cameron Churches Plan Christmas Services and Holiday Breaks

Manning Defeats Jackson For Cameron CCC Crown

Manning of Cameron won the Cameron Country Club golf tournament 3-2 over Bartoe Jackson after a field of about 40 players. He reached extra holes against teen-age Tom Moody and urged Cameron teens to pursue golf with help from adult players to raise local champions.

Milam 49ers Home On Leave At Fort Polk

Fort Polk La Christmas leave planned for about 100 Milam County soldiers of the 49th Armored Division mobilized mid October. Leaves staggered December 21 to January 3 to keep 20 percent on duty. Training has been strenuous with rain mud and night maneuvers as Company C adjusts officers and welcomes Sgt Powell back from NCO Academy.
