H G Kenney pastor of First Presbyterian Church was summoned to appear before Central Texas Presbytery in Temple on January 8, 1929 to answer charges filed by local elders. The summons coincides with news that Dr Harry Emerson Fosdick, a leading modern preacher, may deliver a sermon in Kenney's pulpit if he attends Dallas Open Forum this year. Kenney and Fosdick are close friends sharing scholarly views.

Miss Lora Andrews, a teacher at the Colonial School in Dallas, spends the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs J J Andrews.
Milam County welcomes two new officers on January 1 1929 as Homer Nabours is sworn in as county clerk succeeding Lilian Atkinson and H B McClellen becomes tax assessor succeeding Leila Woolley. Nabours and McClellen were elected in November after July nominations. Meta McCown and Bessie Dunham expected to be retained by Nabours. McClellen undecided on appointments. All county officers will take oath on the first day of 1929.
Sheriff Blaylock and Deputy Pope seized a 90 gallon copper still with ten barrels of mash in a raid south of Buckholts last week. No arrests were made as no one was found in the area. The sheriff’s office called it one of the best stills recovered in the county. The apparatus was copper and costly.
Rodney Pollard and C H Pollard are listed as ill. Mrs Pollard is reported with smallpox symptoms.
Hundreds attend midnight mass at St. Monica's church as Rev. Geo. Apel leads the service. Altar boys in red and white, choir and organists support the Nativity sermon drawing Catholics and non Catholics alike. About 250 receive Communion in a festive, reverent scene.
Twenty five young voices sang in Cameron as residents heard carols like Joy to the World and Silent Night. Windows glowed with light as the Little Town of Bethlehem and the star over the Savior’s birthplace were recalled before departures for waiting cars. The Black Pep Union of the Intermediate Department of the First Baptist church could not visit as many sick and shut-ins due to the warm air.
Dana X. Bible quits Texas A. and M. coaching to become athlete director at the University of Nebraska. Lincoln dispatches confirm the veteran Aggie coach’s move despite Texas A. and M. salary offers. He cites an opportunity to advance in his profession as the reason for the transfer.
C N Green of the Green Brothers Store cites Grigsby Grunow claims on Majestic quality. He notes extensive testing and inspection with chemists testing raw materials, a million dollar lab, and 6300 workers with 600 inspectors ensuring the fastest selling radio of 1929 stays top rated.
Mrs. Maude Boles died at 9 50 a m Friday December 28 in Cameron Hospital after typhoid fever treatment. Hopes for recovery faded Thursday as her condition worsened. Kirby Boles husband is ill at home. The city mourns the loss.
Steve Gardner will perform for the New Year dance at Wayside Inn January 1. The event is billed as the biggest dance of the year and Gardner and his company are popular with Cameron residents. J. D. Lewis will perform for the dance night on December 29 at Wayside.
Horstmann Brothers will present a New Essex display at the Tire Store Saturday. The Challenger models include a town sedan and convertible coupe with prices from 695 to 895 dollars. Essex announces 76 improvements and power boosts, with 55 horsepower for the Challenger and top speeds over 70 mph.
Dr. Harry Emerson Fosdick, renowned preacher, may visit Cameron to deliver a sermon at the local First Presbyterian church if he accepts an invitation to address the Open Forum in Dallas this year. Fosdick and H G Kenney are noted for scholarly attainments.
In the New St. Louis Store free voting contest ending December 24, Mrs. Alah Robinson of Hoyte won first prize a three piece bedroom suite. She tallied 4 082800 votes the highest for any contestant as others place for a varied list of winners and prizes.
Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Clark entertained guests including Mrs. B. L. Douthit of Rockdale and cousin Mrs. Harry Jones of Hempstead, with their sons Clark of S. M. U. and Clark of Temple visiting.
