Mrs. Anna Hesse Buried in Burlington Funeral

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Hesse 68 died at her Burlington home on December 14 1928 were held December 15 1926 at St Michael Catholic Church. Born 1860 in Colorado county she left Texas roots with a large family and six sons four daughters surviving. The Herald extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

Christmas Dance at Country Club For Members and Guests

Members of the Country Club and their guests attend a Christmas dance at the club house Tuesday evening. Each member may invite one guest who must present an admittance card from Mr. George Graves. Salvation Army drive begins in city today

The annual Salvation Army drive kicks off under the County Advisory Board with a $300 county quota. Campaign representative W. D. Pedigo notes 160 girls entered maternity homes this year, 75 percent from small towns. No further solicitations will occur until the next fiscal year. T. F. Hardy chairs the Advisory Board with J. C. Tucker and A. F. Mitchell on the committee.

Majestic Radio Sets Boosted By Green Brothers

Green Brothers report strong sales of Majestic radio sets this season with many units placed in Cameron homes. Nearly six sets sold this week and three shopping days before Christmas remain. Mr. Green praises the reception and forecasts a big year ahead. Advertising support is credited for favorable publicity.

McDermotts Sell Home on Twenty-Third Street

Mr and Mrs Charlie McDermott sold their home on Twenty Third Street to August Gurecky and plan to build in the Country Club Addition. They hope to move into the new house by February 1.

Santa Claus radiogram to Cameron groups invites Christmas Eve visit

A radiogram from Santa Claus arrives in Cameron seeking names of local boys and girls, lists of needed clothes and desired toys, promising to bring dolls, horns, balls, dishes, books, wind up toys, oranges, apples and candy for the Christmas Eve visit. He signs off with a blessing to all who invited him.

Planes Become Everyday Utility as Cameron Considers Terminal

Cameron eyes a landing field to host private planes and air traffic. Hayden Lawrence and associates operate a Curtis plane on the ground for flights and advertising. A terminal would support cross state flights and refueling, reducing forced landings and boosting commerce.

Bryant Station Club Wins Canning Prize

The Bryant Station Home Demonstration Club won the canning contest led by the Milam County Home Demonstration Council. Prize items included an 18 quart National pressure cooker from Milam County Hardware, and a Burpee sealer from A J Matocha Hardware Cameron. Top scorers were Mrs Bruce Jennings 950, Mrs H B Plate 890, and Mrs Guido Gersbach 745.

Churches Plan Christmas Service Programs

The Methodist church will present social music during morning and evening services with a choir directed by Miss Pey. Gifts collected for the Methodist Orphanage will be placed at the altar after the sermon. A Christmas tree decorates the church and the Beginners to Junior Departments will have a tree on Christmas Eve. The Junior Epworth League assists the Mexican school with a Christmas observance, delivering gifts after meeting at the church. Boy Scouts will provide a tree.

Nuway Grocery Opening Planned Here Saturday

Nu Way grocery will open here on Saturday December 22 with Frank Stewart as manager. J F Sonnenburg oversees the opening ad and prices, while Stewart, a longtime Green Brothers veteran, leads the new Nu Way system in Cameron. The national chain plans stores in Temple Rosebud and nearby towns, offering free merchandise on opening day.

Joe H. Elam Buried at Milano Friday

Joe H. Elam of Milano died suddenly at Rogers on Thursday night. Funeral services were held at Milano church with Rev McCain. interment followed in Franklin. He was born in 1876 in Cleburne, lived in Palestine, then Milano, worked with J. B. Newton and Sons, and owned an interest in the firm. Survived by wife, daughter Marjorie, brother Pope Elam, aunt Mrs. Patterson, cousin Mrs. Mitchell, and brother-in-law W. C. Newton.
