All friends and guests are welcome.
Law enforcement tentatively identifies a headless, armless, legless torso found in the Brazos River as Jack B. Cooney III, 28, of Austin. Sheriff Black notes a birthmark and scar match, while authorities extend blood-stain and disposal clues. The body is taken to Austin for homicide investigation.
Cameron police seek two black men who robbed 7-Eleven Store No 2 on North Traiis shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday. One robber was armed and fled on foot. suspects likely left the city in a northbound US 77 car. The two attendants were unharmed. A separate incident Monday night saw two black men rob Cut Rate Grocery in Hearne after tying up attendants with a third suspect waiting outside.
A Texas Aeronautics Commission engineer told Cameron City Council the airpark runway has deteriorated badly and repairs will cost more than expected. The project uses a $61,000 FAA grant with TAC and the city sharing remaining costs. The council approved proceeding with the project and related easement funds, while seeking additional FAA funds. The engineer urged updating facilities and marketing the airpark to attract industry.
The Lexington Community Chamber of Commerce presents the 11th Singing Christmas Tree with two shows on December 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial Park Building. A 100 voice choir performs from a tree shaped structure atop the town’s tallest building. audience participation in carols encouraged. No admission charge, free will offering accepted to cover staging costs.
Patrick McCormick, 24, of Buckholts, suffered a broken arm and exposure after his car failed to clear a small bridge and plunged into a creek bed. The single vehicle crash was not discovered for about two hours.
The Central Texas Red Cross bloodmobile will visit Methodist Fellowship Hall Cameron on Tuesday December 14 from 12 noon to 6 pm. If 76 units are donated Cameron will meet its yearly quota. Donors help supply blood for holiday traffic injuries and may receive blood free of charge if hospitalized locally.
