Portraitist Joseph Fleck to be featured in laser edition

The Cameron visitors note artist Joseph A. Fleck renowned for portraiture and landscapes plans a two continent feature. His wife Mrs Fleck recovers from injuries, and a 22 piece show spans Allis North Galleries. Fleck remains active at 72 and his son is a nuclear physicist.

State finals eye Cameron site for Bulldogs game

The O J Thomas Bulldogs will face the Willis Sweeny winner in the state finals with Cameron possibly hosting the contest. Officials planned to travel to Willis Sweeny to decide the time and place after a tied semifinal. The Bulldogs beat Trinity 38 8 in a regional matchup.

Town To Honor Yeomen Coaches At Armory Dinner

An appreciation dinner at 7 pm Monday at the National Guard Armory honors Yeomen grid coaches George Kirk Ken Fuqua John Wilkins and Wilson Elliott. Kirk's staff led Yeomen to two straight 17 AA District titles and the AA regional finals this year. Denson House Ties Cameron’s Early Local History

The white frame home at Travis and 7th Streets anchors Cameron’s early era with a lineage of prominent residents. Owners and inhabitants included the Mortons, Denson family, and others who shaped Alfred Freeman Addition from 1859 to 1922, later converted into two apartments owned by Dr. George Bowman.

Echols Named Church of Christ Minister in Cameron

D W Echols, a Brownwood area minister since 1962 and Abilene Christian College graduate, was named minister of the Church of Christ at 12th and N Central in Cameron. He and his wife Gegie and son Davey moved to Cameron last weekend and began work December 5. An area wide congregational singing open to the public will be held at 2 20 p m Sunday December 12.

Cey Arledge Dies at 73 in Cameron Funeral Held

Cey C. Arledge 73 died in a Houston hospital at 10 20 p m Monday. Funeral services were held 11 a m Wednesday at Marek Burns Funeral Home with Rev David Erskine officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Born July 6 1592 at Rockdale he lived in Cameron 40 years. Survivor s include wife Ruby of Cameron and sister Addie Thompson of Stanford. Pallbearers listed.

Scouters Dinner To Honor Area Leaders

Milam County hosts a pecan show and food show Saturday in Cameron at the Lester Williams Building. Public viewing starts at 9 a.m. with pecan samples judged on shelling percentage weight appearance and defects. Entries due by Friday Dec 10 with judging starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Burglars Break In at San Gabriel Grocery

Robbers broke into the William Stigall Grocery in San Gabriel on December 1 between 7:30 and 10:39 p.m. They forced a front door lock and escaped with cigars, ladies hose, and cosmetics valued at about $500, according to Sheriff Carl Black.

Christmas Pageant Set For Cameron First Methodist

Fifteen youngsters from Cameron First Methodist Church will present a moving Christmas pageant titled The Night the World Remembers. Rev. Richard Freeman says the event, depicting Joseph and Mary's journey to Bethlehem and nativity scenes, will be shown twice nightly on December 22 and 23 at 6 15 and 7 15 p m in front of the Cameron church. Field plans moving ahead with Cameron cable and airport work

City Council received a progress report on air put plana and its cable television franchise. The ordinance on terminology for approval is being studied. The council also heard updates on airport expansion, master plan work, water and sewerline projects, storm sewers in northeast Cameron, and routine city bills.
