Rutherford found dead on Caldwell farm

E. N. Rutherford of Caldwell was found dead on his farm Monday around noon with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Officials believe he may have stumbled and accidentally discharged the gun while hunting. Emmett Rutherford of Cameron Fruit Company is noted as a relative.

Powell to be buried December 9 at Fort Sam Houston

The remains of Flight Officer Walter C. Powell 24 will be interred December 9 at Fort Sam Houston National Memorial cemetery with full military honors. Powell was killed in action in Italy October 21, 1943 while piloting an A-20 Spirit of Cow Town during early invasions of Italy and Sicily. He left Fort Worth after serving as a Star Telegram carrier salesman and later with J C Penney in Fort Worth. He is survived by his parents two brothers a sister two aunts three uncles and other relatives.

Santa Leads Cameron Christmas Parade With Gift Spread

Milam County Farm Bureau will hold an all day Farm Bureau Day on February 17 at National Hall with guest Murray Cox of National Headquarters Radio. Cox will conduct a program broadcasting Farm Bureau interviews from Milam County and Home Demonstration Clubs in Cameron. Dinner will be served and more plans await release.

Leg broken in street after auto collision in Cameron

Tandy Wilkerson son of Mr and Mrs C A Wilkerson of Cameron sustained a broken leg Saturday afternoon when struck by an automobile driven by Brock Daniels a Cameron resident The accident happened as Tandy and a friend began crossing the street between the Snake Drug Store and the Wied Hardware Store in Santa Fe Town His right leg was broken above the knee and he was taken to St Edward's Hospital for treatment

Train crash kills Buckholts woman at grade crossing

Mrs. John Zawadzke, 55, of Buckholts, died instantly Sunday at 11 a.m. when a Santa Fe northbound train struck her car near Buckholts. She was returning from Sunday School alone in the vehicle. Investigation by Patrolmen Jack Gaines, Jack Higinbotham, and Sheriff Carl Black suggested the car stalled on the track on an uphill crossing from Highway 190. Funeral services were held Monday at the Czech-Moravian Church in Buckholts. survivors include her husband, two sons, two daughters, a sister, and eight grandchildren.

Cameron city records show building permits issued in November totaling 9530. City Secretary W H Stafford stated projects under way include 83 new homes on a cost plus basis, with most permits for repairs and small construction. Stafford will compile year totals for a progress story.

Funeral for Mrs. Susan Delahunty Held at Walkers Creek

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Susan Frances Delahunty at Walkers Creek Baptist Church at 2 p m Wednesday December 8. Rev Odell Jamison officiated and burial followed in Walkers Creek Cemetery. She died Tuesday and was a longtime resident with many relatives and friends. Further details to be published tomorrow.

Cameron Leaders to Attend Mil ler Springs Groundbreaking

Cameron leaders and citizens plan to travel to Miller Springs for the Leon River flood control dam groundbreaking. Milam County Schools Observe Lunch Week Program

Fifteen Milam County schools join 2000 Texas districts in School Lunch Visitors Week December 13 17 to inform parents and civic leaders about the program.
