Santa Parade Opens Cameron Christmas Season
About 4000 residents lined Cameron streets for the Santa Parade kicking off the Yule season in Cameron and Milam County. First prize for floats was 25 dollars to Cameron Catholic Youth Organization. second to Cameron Lions Club. third to Pethel AME Church with 12.50 and 7.50 awards. Santa met children after riding in the rear, with police sheriff fire and Saddle Club riders in parade. Downtown decorations, parking projects, and offstreet lots were noted with improvements along Gillis Street and behind First Baptist Church.

Faulty exhaust blamed in Buckholts man's death
Glen Odell Mitcham aged 42 died from carbon monoxide poisoning likely caused by a faulty exhaust on his car. He was found near Snyder after pulling over while en route from Lubbock to Buckholts. He was a World War II veteran, farmer, and gin operator. Funeral rites were held at Marek Burns Funeral Home. Burial followed in Corinth Cemetery. Baylor senior Jack Everter will sing Christmas music at the December Friends of the Library meeting at 7 30 p m December 14. The art show accompanies the December meeting featuring paper batik mosaic still life graffiti and a Christmas frieze. Mrs L W Stroup Title I art teacher directs about 600 students in art classes this year.

Council Holds Routine Meeting
City officials met in a routine session Tuesday to hear reports from water sewer and street departments. City Secretary Buddy Fuller noted seven water and sewer line repairs plus a new four inch sewer line. Curb and gutter work was completed on Fannin Ave between 20th and 21st Streets and a 200 foot section of a 36 inch drain pipe is being installed at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Johnson Signs Funding for Two San Gabriel River Dams
President Lyndon Johnson signed a bill authorizing 1.5 million dollars to begin construction of two San Gabriel River dams at Laneport and above Georgetown in Williamson County. The Corps of Engineers will build the reservoirs with BRA paying for storage spaces and water control.
