Memorial Service Held for Barney Woods at First Baptist
A memorial service, held Sunday night at the First Baptist Church, honored Barney Woods who died weeks ago at a base hospital in San Antonio. Woods, formerly of Cameron and a former Baptist Sunday School member, had a blue service flag replaced by a gold one at his death. Rev. Blaylock delivered a tribute and sermon on the "Victorious Death" as the choir provided special music.

Fire destroys Cameron bungalow on 13th street
Mrs. Geo A Thomas owned the 13th street home occupied by Mr and Mrs Buck Lewis. An oil stove exploded Saturday morning causing a total interior loss. Insurance covers the house and Mr Lewis had 1000 dollars in furnishings. Lewis, a longtime Cameron resident, has faced a second fire since living here. They are staying at Mrs Stribling's while rebuilding.

J D Hefley Reported Somewhat Improved in Cameron
Jeff D Hefley of Cameron and Milam county is reported somewhat improved after major operations in Temple. He underwent a first operation at Temple Sanitarium, returned home, then faced a serious second operation. He remains confined several weeks, with ongoing recovery ahead as his wife Mrs. Hefley stays by his side.

Judge J. E. Yantis Paralyzed Victim Dies in Waco
Judge J E Yantis aged 53 former State Supreme Court member died in Waco Sunday night after a paralytic stroke. He was an assistant attorney general under Governor Lanham and a McLennan County senator. Appointed to the Supreme Court during Governor Ferguson's first term and elected in primaries two years ago, he later resigned due to ill health. He is survived by a widow.

Tax shirking exposed by comptroller speech

Hawaiian Orchestra Delights Lyceum Crowd at School
Thursday night the Hawaiian Orchestra performed as the second Lyceum Course show at the school building. Funeral Car Fire Damages Car and Injures Custodian
On a Wednesday afternoon a funeral party led by Rev. H. R. Mc Fadyen was en route to North Elm when the car caught fire due to a gasoline feed pipe break. Mr. Gere Smith and Mr. Will Yates owned the vehicle and reported about $100 in damage. The alarm was raised and firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.
