A noon incident report notes police at US 77 and US 190 anticipating a bank robber fleeing Calvert after a bank robbery. The suspect was not caught then. Shortly after, Ward's Catalog Store in Cameron was hit.

Georgetow n area wolves killed 17 lambs on Marvin Edwar s ranch off the Florence highway north of Georgetown. Neighbor Harri Holmstrom reports wolves also attacking fawns as cyanide guns are banned, complicating county trapping efforts.

Vets at the Veterans Administration Center in Temple repair hundreds of donated toys for the Santa Pal program. The effort, sponsored by the Temple Daily Telegram and the Elks lodge, provides all paint and supplies at no cost to the government. The program began 43 years ago, matching needy families with donors for Christmas.
A tornado struck the Pat Miller farm eight miles west of Rockdale on US 79 causing extreme damage to the house a totaled motor home and a demolished tractor shed. The Millers were inside the home and escaped injury.
The 1974 election year begins with chatter on governor and congressional races. Governor Dolph Briscoe seeks a four year term while Congressman Bob Poage faces potential challengers Murray Watson and Dan Kubiak. Filing runs Jan 1 to Feb 4 with the first primary set for May 4.
Ballots for the 1974 Milam County ASCS community committee election have been mailed with December 3 as the final return date. Voters are reminded to sign the certification on the ballot envelope or it will be ineligible. The County Convention on December 12 at First National Bank of Cameron will elect the county chairman and other posts. The current committee includes Erwin Fuessel as chairman Wilburn Beckhusen as vice chairman and Pete Keen as regular member.
Two Bryan men Al bert Boldon Williams and Ira Williams Jr. were jailed in Milam County on armed robbery charges for the Montgomery Ward catalog office theft. A long pistol was used to take cash from employee Kathleen Lewis. A black Buick convertible carried one suspect while the other waited in the car. They were also questioned about a Milano kidnapping but not linked. A large Rockdale crowd later honored state figures Dan Kubiak and Mrs. Kubiak with dignitaries from across Texas in attendance.
The Chamber of Commerce and city government say Christmas street decorations will not be hung this year. The city will wait for mall completion before adding decorations, and some downtown streets are expected to be paved before Christmas to aid downtown shoppers.
Robinson County lawmen hunt a man linked to the Citizens State Bank robbery in Calvert at 11 a.m. Thursday. He fled in the bank president's car, later abandoned. investigators recovered $9,000 of the stolen money from the vehicle.
