Funeral services for B. Slocomb 78 were held yesterday at Marek Burns Funeral Home. Rev. Don Van Dien of the University Christian Church in Fort Worth officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Slocomb died Tuesday in Marlin. He was born December 9, 1878 in Cameron and lived here his life. Surviving with his wife are one son Freeman Slocomb of San Antonio one daughter Nancy Ree Hagood of Fort Worth one sister Mrs. W. S. Brewer of Cameron and four grandchildren.

Fire Burns 50 Acres on Vogelsang Farm
Cameron volunteer firefighters saved the house and barn on Ivan Vogelsang’s farm at Ben Arnold as a grass fire burned through pasture, blackened about 50 acres. Frank Richter Sr., veteran driver, called it the largest grass fire he had ever observed. Fire crews worked roughly four hours to control the blaze.

Mayor Submits Budget Outline To Cameron Council
Mayor Robert Weems submitted a proposed 117000 budget to Cameron councilmen for 1957 58 with anticipated tax revenue of 77990 10 on 1.60 per 100 valuation and total property value of 5415537.
