Milam County Narcotics Raid Net Cannabis Arrests

About 300 pounds of marijuana and a bushel basket of cured buds were confiscated on Monday from two farms in eastern Milam County by Deputy Sheriff Clarence McCall and Dan Gunn with a state narcotics officer. Six Mexicans were arrested on the two farms near Rockdale and near Milano, then released on $500 bonds after waivers. This was Milam County’s second narcotics raid in a month, with officers noting the growers appeared unconcealed and unaware of the legal seriousness.

Executrix Appointed For Thweatt Estate

Mrs. Mary M. Thweatt was appointed executrix of Harmon D. Thweatt's estate who died November 6 1937 from a stroke caused by a dislodged silver plate in his head. The World War II veteran served with the American Army in France. The appointment, sought through attorneys Wallace and Wallace of Cameron, was contested by relatives via attorney Bill Morrison. Previously rival claimants included Mrs Harmon Daniels of Louisville who later withdrew in favor of Mrs Thweatt. her maiden name was Mary McCarty of Jones Prairie. No value of the estate is stated.
