He died in Elgin after a short illness and was remembered as a pioneer with many friends in the county.

Hoke Southard, arrested August 11 four miles north of Rockdale by Constable W. Colvin, faced federal action after a Rockdale liquor raid uncovered untaxed spirits. Colvin, involved in recent enforcement, found 10 gallons of whiskey, a distillery, 500 gallon cooler, and 300 pounds of sugar on Moody farm. A woman in a prior raid drank poison but recovered. other cases await Texas poll results next Saturday.
Milam County projected lint cotton total 38 722 bales for 1935 based on 19 861 158 pounds allotment certificates. If crop underperforms to about 30 000 bales an excess of 8 722 bales would be paid for but not produced or ginned. Farmers may sell excess certificates. pools pay 5 cents per pound. Potential tax losses and hardship on tenants noted. rental checks and imalt acreage cited. Judge and Mrs. Graham Gillis return from Seymore visit with sister Mrs. McDonald.

Albert Krenek, longtime Herald reader, brings Cameron the smallest fully developed ear of corn on display. The yellow dent corn ear measures just over 3 inches in length, showcased at the fair as part of the CORN feature.
Improvements aim to boost Milam Theater seating to 700 in balcony and lower projection room. Cameron Theatre and Milam Theatre remain key entertainment assets for Cameron. Swift plans to seat about 1000 across his theatres and improve visitor comfort.
