Midshipmen Training Cruise Sets Sail From Norfolk
John B Henderson, UT Austin senior and son of Mr and Mrs John B Henderson Sr of Cameron Texas, sails aboard the USS Newport News. More than 1 300 Naval ROTC midshipmen depart Norfolk July 18 for a six week Atlantic Fleet cruise with stops in Colon Havana Cuba and Guantanamo Bay. Gunnery practice at Guantanamo Bay will climax the voyage before disembarking at Norfolk August 26.

Cpl. Joe D. Zarosky Jr returned to Cameron after a two year Army tour that included overseas service in Europe. He received separation at Camp Chaffee Ark on Aug 10 and had prior service with Battery C 649th A A Battalion. He trained at Camp Chaffee then served at Camp Leonard Wood Fort Benning and Camp Kilmer before overseas duty in Italy and Austria with maneuvers near Salzburg. He will resume training with his local unit and was previously employed by Grant Lumber Company.

Sister of Local Business Man Buried At Tyler
Funeral services for Mrs. Irma Foster were held Monday August 8 1955 at 10 a m in Tyler. She died at Tyler hospital August 4 after two years confined to bed. She was the sister of Cameron businessman Joh Muse. Survivors include her mother Ms W S Muse one sister Mrs Lillian Cast and two brothers John Muse of Cameron and Gene Muse of Edinburg.

Dick Clark Dies At Kennedy In 1955
Dick Clark age 63 died at his home in Kennedy on Thursday afternoon August 11 1955 after a period of illness. Born April 29 1892 in Georgetown he moved to Rockdale as a child later finishing high school. He worked at Lubok Compress Company until recent months with services and burial planned in Kennedy. Survivors include son Dick Clark Jr of Almagorda NM sister Mrs Mary Maples Cameron mother Mrs W S Clark Cameron and brother Billy Clark Houston plus one grandson.

Sheriff Carl Black reported that about two dozen tombstones were pushed over at Oak Hill Cemetery on Friday night. Henry Brown, the cemetery caretaker, notified the sheriff Saturday morning. A $50 reward was offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible as the investigation continued.
