Texans urged to back a state relief bond in August to fund federal aid programs. The appeal warns that failure would block money for food and welfare, with two years until another vote and risk of widespread hunger. Cameron Council No 2338 members traveled to Caldwell for a joint basket picnic with Bryan and Caldwell members. A large crowd at Behren s Lake enjoyed social time, cats and watermelons while Pioneer Band Cameron provided music. Rudolph Richter led the program with Monsignor Gleisner and clergy speakers present.

James E. Ingram five year old son of Mr and Mrs Abner Ingram Jr died Sunday morning August 13 at two o clock from burns received Saturday after falling into a tub of boiling water at the residence. The funeral was held at Walkers Creek Sunday afternoon with interment in Walkers Creek cemetery. Out of town relatives included Mrs Laura Mone y of San Antonio Mr and Mrs Clyde Riche of Brady Mr and Mrs C R Ingram of Brady Mr and Mrs Jack Ingram of Baileyville Mr and Mrs D Lange and Mr and Mrs J K Hart of Calvert.
Confederate veteran J L Bailey of Cameron celebrated his 90th birthday on Tuesday. Born in England and long-time Texas resident, he enlisted from Alabama and now resides with his Cameron granddaughter.
Chas Zidell owner of the Fair a Cameron ladies ready to wear shop announces a final sale in The Herald with stock to be cleared at below market prices. He will move to Temple on September first vacating the Cameron building. Sale features season goods and bargains eclipsing prior offers.
J B Mayes, long with the New Yorker Hotel in New York City for two years, visited his mother Mrs Kittie B Mayes of Maysfield Manday and Tuesday this week. He previously worked at Buccaneer Hotel Galveston four years ago and Hotel Brownwood before moving to New York. He served as income auditor at the New Yorker Hotel, then resigned to become chief auditor at the Stephen F Austin Hotel in Austin, resuming duties Thursday.
The Episcopal Church schedules morning prayer at 9 30 and Sunday School at 10 o'clock on Sunday August 20. Local parish members are invited to participate in both services.
The Chamber of Commerce delays naming a five member committee under the National Recovery Administration code, hindering cooperation with the President. Affected firms face possible Blue Eagle checks from August onward, with penalties for noncompliance and rules against shifting hours or overstaffing to avoid code provisions.
Mrs. T. D. Underwood, 55, died Sunday night after a baptizing near Bryant Station at Little River. Born March 18, 1878 in Florence, Texas, she lived in the state all her life and was a Baptist. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church Monday at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Webb of Rogers officiated. Interment followed at Reed's Lake Cemetery near Rogers with pallbearers J. W. Haygood, Dr. James Watson, B. L. Archer, Raymond Sharpe, R. B. Rylander, E. Cc. Cole and honorary pallbearers R. L. Batte, S. E. Koepf, F. R. Dunlap, Joe Petruey.
Mr and Mrs Albert Collins have moved into a new brick residence on East 13th Street. The home was completed last week and is described as modern and one of the most attractive in the city. Friends extend congratulations and best wishes for happiness in the new home.

Lane Thomas 83 pioneer of Texas died at his Cameron home Saturday morning after months of illness. Born in Brandon Mississippi on April 24 1851 he moved to Texas as a child then returned later to his native state He married Josie Lott in 1881 and later lived in the western part of Texas A former Texas Ranger he moved to Cameron 33 years ago to engage in stock raising He was a Mason with San Andres lodge No 170 and his Masons conducted the funeral and interment at Oak Hill cemetery
Up to Wednesday night Cameron press receives 3086 bales of new cotton, over 2000 more than the same period last year. Dry weather hastened maturity, while recent rains benefited late cotton. A $2.50 rise in price Thursday morning encouraged planters and merchants amid earlier price declines impacting business.
Relatives from three states gathered in Maysfield for an all day Newton reunion on Sunday August 15 with 47 of 52 members present including eleven children eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren Services were held at the Maysfield Presbyterian church led by Dr C E Newton and Rev J K P Newton music was by Mrs Kittie Newton Mayes Dinner followed at Mrs Kittie N Mayes home with Mrs Newton widow of the late Rev J K P Newton and her three daughters and eight sons at the head table and others served on the porch
