T. D. Lindsey aged 79 died Sunday at 2 30 pm at his son’s home after two weeks illness from pneumonia. Born in Georgia in 1849 he moved to Arkansas with his parents before 1917 then to Cameron to live with his son after his wife’s death. Funeral at Methodist Church Aug 13 conducted by Rev. P T Ramsey with San Andres Lodge No 170 A F & A M assisting. burial at Newark Arkansas beside his late wife. Damage suit settled in county court here
The damage suit of Owen Weems against Paul Matyastik et al was settled in county court by an agreed judgment last Wednesday. Weems accepted $371.50 for himself and $75 for Virginia Weems, who was injured when the car driven by Matyastik collided with another car on Buckholts road, killing a sister.

Aubrey E. Batey, 23, died after a stabbing at Sand Grove church on Sunday night August 5. Neal Baggett, stepfather-in-law, held on $5000 bond for murder. re-arrested after Batey’s death. Motive linked to life insurance proceeds and funeral costs. Batey died at Cameron Hospital after being wounded on church steps.

The biggest bunch of bananas ever seen in Caderon weighed 107 pounds and was shown at Elwood Cammer’s Way Side Inn on Wednesday and Thursday. The stalk carried fruit three feet long and was bought from Cameron Fruit Company. Shoppers queued for the unusual display over the two days.

Bids Opened for Highway 45 Improvements in Milam County
The State Highway Commission let contracts for grading drainage and bridge work on 4.5 miles of Highway 45 from Dry Brushy Creek to the oil mill near Thorndale. Thomas and Ratliff of Temple won for grading 54,144 and bridge work 04,074. The project fills the last gap in Milam County except a one mile stretch into Thornville, with work including grade adjustments and future surface finishing on Rockdale segment.

Mayfield Gin to be Rebuilt After Latest Fire
The Planters Gin at Mayesfield will be rebuilt at once after a fire destroyed the plant for the second time last week. Loss estimated at $10,000 with $7,500 covered by insurance. Fire's origin undetermined, with a previous blaze five years ago across Texas.

Harvester Company to Open Store in Cameron
International Harvester Company has bought the Cameron franchise from Milam County Hardware and will locate a distributing and retail center here. Cecil Cone, former hardware staffer now with the company, will run the Cameron operation. A truckload of International vehicles is expected to arrive soon. An official public announcement is forthcoming with plans possibly to house a new brick building in Cameron.
