Cotton Crop This Year Will Be About 11,970,037 Bales
Washington reports the 1949 cotton crop is estimated at about 11,970,037 equivalent 500-pound bales, down from 15,134,930 last year. The forecast, unofficially calculated from the government condition report, notes the crop’s fate depends on growing conditions through picking time. Lawn Party At Collins Home Delights Thirty Guests

Death of Mr Frank Werner in West Cameron
The death of Mr Frank Werner at his home in West Cameron is noted. He lived about 49 years, came from Germany, and is survived by his wife and three children aged 6 to 16. Catholic funeral services were held by Father Spenneweber and burial occurred in the Catholic cemetery. George Banzhaf returned Saturday from College Station where he attended the Farmers Short Course. He heard lecturers during an interesting week with 301 in attendance including every County Agent in the region. Banzhaf remains the oldest county agent in the state to have never changed his location, a mark of honor for Milam County.
