Former resident Ronnie Hanneman will stage a five part historical production with a local cast in the community next year in cooperation with the Bicentennial Commission. The lineup includes Our Down Tom Sawyer Johnny Appleseed and Skin of Our Teeth. Elderly-targeting insurance scam ring halted in Hearne
Harrison County judge cites three complaints against out of town agents preying on seniors. Audrie Fuller Jr., 27, was arrested in Hearne after attempting to defraud an 80-year-old Calvert woman on July 24 by soliciting money before a report could be filed. Special investigator Dep. Cecil Wingo assisted in the case. Sheriff E. P. Elliott commented on the slim chances of recovery from such companies.

Rockdale Star Charged in Grocery Store Robbery
An 18-year-old former Rockdale High School football star Henry Beckwith was charged last Friday with armed robbery in a shotgun holdup at Four Corners Grocery on July 26. Beckwith was a standout running back and all-district player at RHS for two years.

PTA Gives Tennis Courts at Thorndale Community
Thorndale PTA moves closer to completing a community tennis court project with a total cost of 14,300 dollars. Alcoa provides a five thousand dollar grant and ITA donations reach four thousand five hundred. three thousand remains to be raised. Remaining work includes top coating and lighting. Buckholts Man In Serious Condition After Car Strikes Train
Melvin Allison, 50, of Buckholts is in serious condition in the Temple VA Hospital after his car collided with a westbound Amtrak train about a mile east of Buckholts. He was alone in the vehicle and the crash is under investigation by Trooper Miltron Wright of the highway patrol.

Pre-School Band Workshop Opens Monday
A two week summer band workshop starts Monday August 11 for junior high and high school bands at Yoe High School. Junior high band will rehearse 9 30 to 11 30 a.m. and Yoe High band 7 to 9 30 p.m. daily. Jerry Bartley and Gary Beach urge all members to attend as they work on new music and marching fundamentals. Sixth grade students may participate in both band and athletics.

Alcoa Grant Funds Poage Library at Baylor
The Alcoa Foundation awarded a 20000 grant for the W R Poage Congressional Library to be built on Baylor University campus. The project board chaired by W W Callan includes Narvie Caperton and Hal Reagan. Grant Renames Alcohol Council Regional Authority in Region 23
Senator William N. Patman announced that the Central Texas Council on Alcoholism is renamed the Regional Alcoholism Authority for State Planning Region 23. The area includes Bell Milam Coryell Mills Lampasas Hamilton and San Saba counties. The designation carries an $18,955 grant from the Texas Commission on Alcoholism with $11,120 in matching funds.
