A proposed $559000 county budget mirroring the 1959 60 plan will be reviewed by the County Commissioners Court in a public hearing at 10 a m on August 22. County Judge Dee A Humble notes the budget uses the same 95 cent per $100 valuation and cites Milam County’s estimated serviceable valuation at $31 million.

The 9.2 mile project will complete US 77 reconstruction from Minerva to the Lee County line with 39 parcels involved and no completion deadline yet. New paving is planned for FM 485 near Buckholts Alcoa Road near Rockdale and from FM 98 to FM 486 totaling about 12 miles on the farm to market program.
Cameron Rotarians heard memory expert Bill Hayes discuss his auto mobile system for memory enhancement. Hayes, author of Your Memory, illustrated techniques with name recall, facial features, and grouping methods while recounting his career from New England legislator to public relations consultant.
Mary Ann Brown born July 8 in Cameron weighed 3 pounds at birth and survived with careful nursing at Newton Memorial Hospital. The premature infant, fed by medicine dropper, gained to 2 pounds 8 ounces after weeks of care and requires about 45 minutes per ounce of milk, fed every hour and a half.
Principal Jerald Underwood announces schedule changes for Yee High School students. The window runs from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, August 11 through 19, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, with students urged to visit the principal's office for modifications.
A 16 point agenda guides Cameron School Board tonight including budget amendments, 1960-61 hearing date, cafeteria bids, and personnel hiring. Committee reports on buildings, transportation and athletics will be heard along with a bus servicing policy discussion and a GI Vocational Buildings lease with Milam County.

Four weekly sessions total about three hours each with certificates and texts provided. Cornelius Bob Titsworth to coordinate county schools CD efforts. August Civil Defense Preparedness Month was proclaimed by Mayor Coleman Duncum and supported by the Cameron School Board. The Cameron Three Arts Club plans fall articles on Civil Defense.
The 4th annual Alcoa Lake Fish Rodeo begins at sunrise August 21 at Alcoa Lake in Rockdale. The eight day event ends August 28 with prizes for top catches among men women and children under 16. Free fishing permits are available at the concession house and must be weighed daily.
Rain slowed early cotton picking in Milam County while maize harvest nears completion. First bales reported in Buckholts Thorndale Rosebud and Cameron with 23 bales gin ned by mid week at Farmer's Gin Co Cameron. 1960 cotton crop estimates set between 20000 and 22000 bales, about 4009 more than 1959.
Newton Memorial Hospital fund drive surpassed the $50,000 goal with $51,000 reported by headquarters officials. The office moved to hospital facilities this week next to the Cameron Chamber of Commerce. Construction costs are forecast up to $320,000 with Hill Burton funds at $160,000 and $60,000 more from out of county pledges. About 225 Cameron supporters contributed as bids ranged from $313,000 to $400,000 for the new one floor four wing masonry building housing 28 beds and modern facilities.
Yee High School students under Mrs. Richard E. Burke described their Texas A and M high school publications workshop experiences during a Lions weekly meeting. Thirty Lions and guests attended the luncheon at The Texan.
