Corp Walker now stationed at Camp Crowder Missouri attached to the Signal Corps where he has become an instructor. He volunteered from Waco where he lived for years and Cameron born he was county surveyor succeeding his late father Quinn Walker. Cameron Flier Visits In City Tuesday
Lieut. Thomas Jeffen White of the United States Army Air Corps and his four man crew visited Cameron for a few hours on Tuesday. They landed after arriving from Waco where they based a medium bomber the B-26 noted as a fast bombing plane before continuing to Tampa Florida. On the cross country trip they stopped in Greenville Mississippi to see Lieut. John Mooney in the air corps.

First 1942 cotton bale arrives in Cameron from Jones Prairie
J. D. Black of Jones Prairie delivered the first bale of 1942 cotton to Cameron weighing 482 pounds, from 1470 pounds of seed cotton. Seed sold for 22.75 dollars. Milam county sold its first 1942 cotton bale at 10 cents a pound on market row in Cameron. John Matyastik bought the bale, ginned by Matyastik & Sons, with J. D. Black as bale producer. The seed sold for 22.75 dollars. total bale receipts were 114.33 dollars.

Marines Pvt Rayburn Mode joins air corps progress at Jacksonville
Milam County's Pvt Rayburn Mode of Cameron serves in the United States Marines and trains in Jacksonville Florida as an airplane mechanic. He is the son of Mr and Mrs John Mode and formerly owned the Mode Boot and Shoe Shop in Cameron. His father manages the shop in his absence and Milam County takes pride in his service.

Verdicts in Case Against Spies in Washington

T W Allen, longtime Buckholts native, dies in Houston
T W Allen, 65, former Buckholts resident and Texas native, died Thursday at Heights Hospital Houston from a paralytic stroke after years of ill health. Mourned by a large family including 10 children, his body to be brought to Temple for 2:30 p.m. Saturday funeral at North Elm Cemetery led by Rev. Lamar Hocker. Survived by widow, 10 children, a sister, and several grandchildren.

Virgil Turner serves on an American submarine in the Pacific near the Philippines. His parents in Cameron worried as months passed without word while U S submarines fought and sank Japanese ships. Jim McGoldrick has been named Commander of the American Legion with Dr A F E Kruse as First Vice Commander and Dr W Bennett as Second Vice Commander.
