Tongate Returns To Cameron Cotton Office
M. Tongate, manager James the government cotton office at Cameron, opened the Cameron office for the 1923 season on August 1. He will return to Cameron Monday to begin duties, spend the cotton season there, and will serve as head of the government cotton cooperative office for a third season. He also has a contract as umpire with the baseball league, a role held since his army discharge, except for three seasons when he played.

Man Found Dying Struck By Car in Hearne
Tom Favors, 73, of Hearne, struck on Highway 43 at city limits, head crushed. A passing motorist found him. death occurred before aid. He leaves three daughters and three sons in Hearne, Hearne and nearby areas, and is brother to W. D. Favors of Cameron.

Edwin Pierce of Houston was sentenced to two years in prison for theft of an automobile near Milano. The car was stolen from Charles Williams after Pierce and William Lewis were stalled for repairs. Dog Theft Cleared As Man Faces Indictment
J. D. Smith charged with theft by mailee was returned to Cameron after his arrest at Wharton for stealing three dogs from Penn Wolf district clerk. Examining trial held with bond set at 500 dollars. Case slated for September grand jury term. Smith sought dogs from Mr. Wolf while camped near Sharpe. One dog found in Wharton, others recovered in Austin county.
