The Old Fiddlers Contest returns to Yee High School auditorium Friday night April 30 after a postponement due to high water. Prizes total 105 dollars. admission 50 and 35 cents. A State Championship Fiddlers Tournament follows July 2 and 3 in Cameron during the American Legion Celebration. Hundreds are expected to attend and seats may sell out.
The Cameron Herald marks 48 years of service as it reflects on its early years under Governor Richard Coke and a young Texas constitution. The Catholic priest visits his Milano-based brother and is praised for an entertaining talk with solid historical knowledge of the Holy Lands. The audience is expected to fill the auditorium.
Milam County Clerk Lilian Atkinson announces re election bid in the Democratic primary on July 24 1926. Her administration since January 1925 is praised for efficiency courtesy and direct public service with capable assistants retained and public support anticipated at the polls.
The Business and Professional Women's Club will hold its regular monthly meeting next Tuesday May 4 at 8 o clock. A luncheon will follow an interesting program. All members are urged to attend. Committee.
Milam County tax collector Roy Law announces his bid for a second term in the Democratic primary on July 24 1926. He began service January 1 1925 after a 1924 election victory and has pursued efficient tax collection through travels and study of tax laws. Law emphasizes public service and plans active voter outreach to refine county tax administration.
Dallas News reports the Old Fiddlers Contest is postponed to April 30. A reader from Redwater asks to challenge the winner on behalf of M. P. James of Houston, Texas.
The Episcopal Church will hold Sunday services in May at 8 p m each Sunday and a Sunday School at 9 45 a m. The pattern remains the same for every Sunday in May.

At Cameron Baptist Church the congregation rallied after Sunday school, hundreds shaking hands with Pastor E. S. Hutcherson to express support for his literal interpretation of Scripture. Superintendent J. H. Du Bois led the show of faith while critics of modernist views were present, and the pastor conveyed gratitude for the overwhelming approval of his stance.
The city council renamed the street along the public water supply basins and park area to Howell street. The new name honors Mr. Howell who lives near the park and supports the honor after the previous name proved unsatisfactory.
Members of the Ben McCullough Camp will meet on Saturday May 1 at 1 p.m. at the Courthouse to elect delegates to the State and National Reunion. All members are urged to be present. Dp A McLane Commander.
Jack Taylor attended a conference track meet in Fort Worth last Tuesday and threw the discus 146 feet. He plans to compete in track events in Waco next Saturday.
The Harlingen convention plans include housing 1ron in nearby towns San Benito and La Feria with a June 11 automobile trip through the valley ending in a Matamoros barbecue. Sessions will be at Harlingen High School auditorium seating about 1200, with broad valley cooperation and shared expenses by Harlingen and volunteer firemen groups.
