Fiddlers Contest Set for April 30 at Yee High School

The Old Fiddlers Contest returns to Yee High School auditorium Friday night April 30 after a postponement due to high water. Prizes total 105 dollars. admission 50 and 35 cents. A State Championship Fiddlers Tournament follows July 2 and 3 in Cameron during the American Legion Celebration. Hundreds are expected to attend and seats may sell out.

The Catholic priest visits his Milano-based brother and is praised for an entertaining talk with solid historical knowledge of the Holy Lands. The audience is expected to fill the auditorium.

Cameron Baptist Congregation Endorses Pastor for Strict Bible Doctrine

At Cameron Baptist Church the congregation rallied after Sunday school, hundreds shaking hands with Pastor E. S. Hutcherson to express support for his literal interpretation of Scripture. Superintendent J. H. Du Bois led the show of faith while critics of modernist views were present, and the pastor conveyed gratitude for the overwhelming approval of his stance.

Howell Street Named By Council For Local Citizen

The city council renamed the street along the public water supply basins and park area to Howell street. The new name honors Mr. Howell who lives near the park and supports the honor after the previous name proved unsatisfactory.

Harlingen Hosts Valley Convention Delegates

The Harlingen convention plans include housing 1ron in nearby towns San Benito and La Feria with a June 11 automobile trip through the valley ending in a Matamoros barbecue. Sessions will be at Harlingen High School auditorium seating about 1200, with broad valley cooperation and shared expenses by Harlingen and volunteer firemen groups.
