Arizona man named in auto theft and murder case

William Craig Riley, 24, with no fixed address, was named by Austin police on an auto theft charge and is wanted for a murder in Del Rio and an armed robbery in Indio, Calif. The victim, Jack Cooney III, a car salesman, was found decapitated in the Brazos River near Gause last December. his van, later tied to Riley, had been repainted with Arizona plates and impounded in India after a bus-station robbery. The investigation points to a possible dismemberment at a Hearne area ranch.

Cameron tour highlights city growth and park projects

A bus tour for Cameron officials and CDA staff reviewed progress on home demolition and replacement with FHA financed brick houses, a deepened Ledbetter Lake, sewer upgrades replacing 33 toilets and 23 septic tanks, and multiple drainage projects. Visitors saw O J Thomas Park facilities and City Park tennis courts funded by Lions Club and civic groups, with meals at Pizza Hut.
