Maller Papers Or Raise Price At Annual Publishers Meet

New York April 28 The size and cost of daily newspapers may be cut or raised at the American Newspaper Publishers Association annual convention opening next Wednesday at the Waldorf Astoria. About 2,000 publishers are expected to attend as white paper costs and other wartime production expenses press toward higher prices and smaller formats.

Survey of government site awarded to Milam County official

Postmaster Inglish of Cameron reports Milam County Surveyor Quinn Walker has been awarded the contract for a topographical survey of the government site in the Government Building. The work includes elevations depressions soil samples to fifteen feet and a blueprint of the lot with nearby streets sidewalks water mains and sewers with completion required in thirty days to aid the supervising architect in finalizing construction plans.

Bohemian Hall Dedication Picnic At Buckholts

Real Music for Chautauqua Stunning Band at Expo

The real musical sensation in Chautauqua last year was Thavia's Band and Grand Opera Singers. The band played at the San Francisco Expo opening and closed the Chautauqua season there. Thavia and John Philip Sousa received greater honors than any other band master at the fair. The circuit will feature the same band again with different, improved singers. The 1916 program is the most pretentious yet with larger and pricier attractions, requiring eighty people to furnish it, fifteen more than ever before.

A Thursday night Colonial concert at the High School Auditorium benefited the Cemetery Association. Mrs Kemp Miss Brougher and several others organized it with praise for effort. The event drew praise and over forty dollars was raised for a worthy use.
