Yoe Students Win Honors at Regional Interscholastic Meet
Seventeen Yoe High students and sponsors Coach Smith Mrs Bob Gordon and Miss Marjorie Williamson returned from the Georgetown regional meet with multiple honors. Obermiller Kelm and Winfield swept slide rule placements 1st 2nd 3rd while Obermiller and Kelm advance to the Austin state meet May 4 5. Virginia Graham placed third in extemporaneous speaking Florence Ruth Boecker won first in numbers sense and advances. Yeomen earned 9 points in track and field with Eddie Lankford qualifying for state in 100 and 440 yard dashes. Obermiller tied the state slide rule record at Cameron district meet.

Sunday Drill Checks Pay for Battery C Unit
Approximately twelve hundred dollars in checks were paid to members of Battery C 649th Anti Aircraft Artillery Battalion for weekend drills. The pay, added to the $2,130 in regular armor drill pay received earlier, comes ahead of a larger next month payroll due to numerous promotions. A final tracking and aiming practice is planned at Cameron airport on Sunday afternoon April 22 with Civil Air Patrol pilots from Marlin.

Miss Pauline Gunnels 12 of Liberty died suddenly near home at 7 PM on Wednesday April 18 while returning from the field. Daughter of Mr and Mrs Dave Gunnels she lived in the county all her life. Funeral Rites Held For Louis Moraw
Louis Moraw 80 died at his Splawn area home Friday afternoon after years of declining health. Funeral services were held at St. Monica church on Monday April 23 officiated by Rev. George J. Duda. Burial followed in St. Monica cemetery.
