Pythians District Meet and Program Set for May Second
Pythians of the Cameron district including Cameron Caldwell and Rockdale will hold a district meeting barbecue and public program on Wednesday May 2. Judge W G Gillis will deliver the address on Pythian ism. The event includes a barbecue supper at six p.m. and entertainment by the Methodist church choir and other numbers. Many lodge members from other lodges expected to attend with committees named for arrangements reception and welcome.

Picnic at Sharpe Hosts Candidates for Office
Sharpe community held an April 20 picnic drawing residents from the area and county. The event featured an old fashioned barbecue and ball games with a few early arrivals and a later turnout for speeches by Rep Poage and several local officials candidates.

Cameron Masons Attend Waco Shrine Ceremonial Night
A number of Cameron Masons traveled to Waco last Friday for a Shrine ceremonial at Karem Temple. Attendees from Cameron included John B. Henderson Mike Coleman Max Collins John Perry S P Cross J L Barmore Roy Griffith Frank Stewart Conn Moody Henry Davis W A Bonds T F Hardy and others. After the ceremony a dance was held at the Temple and several remained for the dance. Jack Shiver a local Underwood salesman was a ring candidate as Chas Moor of Rosebud won the ring.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Edward Black 27 at her Cameron home with E S Hutcherson and P T Ramsey officiating. Born Carrie Mattie Herndon February 26 1901 she died April 23 1928 in Sweetwater. She leaves husband two sons Walter Edward Jr and Willie Archie four relatives in Cameron and burial at Wilson Cemetery Tanglewood Lee County conducted by Greene Brothers.

Executive Committee Sets May 5 Box Convention Plans
The Cameron Executive Committee met April 21 led by W G Gillis to arrange delegate selection for the county Democratic convention on May 8 and to adopt the state party pledge. Damage suit against Blaylock withdrawn by plaintiff
Preston Perry Jr of Rockdale took a non suit in district court Tuesday in a case against Sheriff L L Blaylock and others for damages alleged after an officer fired into Perry’s car last December. The trial began Monday with jury selection and evidence heard before the non suit was filed.

Bobby Jackson Defeats Harrington in Ten Round Boxing Card
Bobby Jackson won a ten round decision over Johnny Harrington at the Legion Athletic Club in Dallas. Jackson dominated most rounds, Harrington scoring only the fourth seventh and ninth by slim margins. Local speedster Kid Haddox scored a third round KO, and L Matula edged Jimmy Reynolds in the four round opener. A large crowd attended the second club event with several knockouts and strong showings from Butler, Gause, Braden, and Rice.
