Sgt Sebesta Hero of Patton's Army in Normandy
Tech Sgt Ernest J. Sebesta of Cameron Texas earned the Silver Star for gallantry near a hedge row in Normandy. He rose from a ditch to fire eight M1 rounds at close range, killing two enemy fighters and saving his company commander and platoon leaders under heavy fire. He joined the service in 1941 and serves with the 36th Armored Regiment of the Spearhead Third Armored Division.
