Rosebud's new mayor Lee Ray McAtee announced he will hold Wednesday sessions at City Hall from ten to noon to hear citizen suggestions and complaints. He said public cooperation can help the city better serve its taxpayers.

Predators Targeted in Lampasas County War on wildlife funded by farmers

A countywide predator campaign in Lampasas County offers bounties for coyotes, bobcats, red foxes and pups with farmers contributing five cents per acre. Bounties range from 10 to 100 dollars per animal. Also reported are a West Point cadet from Rockdale, a molestation manhunt in Round Rock, a Calvert man’s death in a car fire, I 35 pump nozzle thefts, and a Gatesville School ex-student sentenced for aggravated robbery.

May 1 marks the resumption of the Texas Family Land Heritage Program and more statewide farms and ranches may join the 16 Milam County properties already registered. Applicants must meet historic production and ownership rules with a deadline of August 15.

Living Legend Carl Black Honored At Milam Sheriff Dinner

Texas Attorney General John Hill presided as Cameron sculptor James Brock unveiled a bronze bust of Carl Black, Milam County sheriff 1944 to 1976, at a nearly 300 guest appreciation dinner. Hill praised Black as a living legend for 36 years of service, citing integrity and selflessness.

Milam County Sets Prisoner Housing Charges and Pets Other Actions

Milam County commissioners set a daily housing charge of 7.50 per inmate for prisoners from other counties plus medical and damage expenses. They approved sheriff vehicle protection screens and discussed new drink machines in the courthouse. Vote Recount Reset For Today

A city election vote recount scheduled for Friday was postponed to 9 a m Monday to have a Secretary of State official present. Odessa Poole requested the recount after losing to Dale Smith by three votes. The recount committee includes Charles Kunz as chairman Shirley Kelly and Pauline Friemel. They will meet at City Hall to count the votes.

Banks report strong deposits gains across Milam area

Banks in Cameron Rockdale and Thorndale posted sizable deposit increases as of March 31 1977 compared with a year earlier Citizens National Cameron First National and others saw gains with Milam Savings & Loan deposits totaling 3 664 672 on March 31 1976 Deposits in Cameron Rockdale and Thorndale rose by over 2 million while others neared a million The Rockdale branch addition pushed total deposits to 6 171 076 as of March 31 1977.
