Cameron Herald Fails to Boost Package Sales
The Cameron Herald had little impact on package sales in the first month of the new levy. For the first month since August 1949 the omnibus account had enough income to meet all allocations for public welfare, teachers retirement, rural roads and the foundation school fund needs. After those charges were met, $164,000 remained for the general fund. Previously the general fund had covered large shortfalls in the omnibus fund.
