Texas Wheat Crop Seen Smallest in 14 Years

Washington April 10 Dry weather and green bugs cut Texas 1950 wheat crop to the lowest in 14 years. The U S Department of Agriculture forecasts 24 940 000 bushels based on April 1 conditions. Last year Texas yielded 102 848 000 bushels. 1947 set a record at 124 270 000. If rain comes it may help but a normal crop seems unlikely. Insects and drought compound losses as dust storms haze skies and moisture remains scarce.
