Cameron To Host Scout Exposition For Tejas District

Cameron voters backed incumbent Hilliard Thomas on the school board with 166 votes and elected Fred Will Hornung with 143. W. Wirt Skinner earned 66 and Morris Eplen 1 write-in. Buckholts chose A W Zajicck Jr and Vernon Dungan with 16 each. Milano elected Ray Whited and J C Hayman with 82 each. Gause re elected Carl Walker with 115. Gause others elected were G Wilson 146 and Bud Walker 19. Vernon Shaw failed to file and received 108 write ins. James Shaw 1 write in. Truman Ditto and Milton C Wise received 7 and 53. Precinct 3 trustee Bennie D Williams had 32 Milano, 129 Gause, 267 Rockdale. Rockdale three incumbents won: W I Hogan 411, Glenn Hodges 480, Philip Young 406. Milton Curtis 156 for fourth seat. Rockdale City Council: Clyde Jones 602 over Oscar Brockmoan 300. West Ward John Senn tag 494 over Preston Perry 414 for East Ward. Thorndale results unavailable due to phone trouble.

Tejas District Scout Exposition Opens at Cameron Armory

Advance ticket sales are brisk for Saturdays Tejas District Scout Exposition at the National Guard Armory in Cameron. The event begins at 1 p.m. with a flag ceremony and runs until 8 p.m. Tickets cost 50 cents at the door. About 20 units including Boy Scouts Cubs and Explorers will demonstrate skills and display exhibits.

Calvin Cobb addressed Cameron Rotary, warning that rising costs, high land values, and non farm corporate investment threaten family farms. He cited the 1964 agriculture census showing over three million farmers, about one third operating on a hobby basis, and urged efficiency to survive despite tax driven non farm investment and reduced political influence.

R Cheeves Warner Dies In Arkansas

Funeral services were held in Fort Smith Arkansas for Mrs Cecil Reba Cheeves Warner formerly of Cameron. She died Tuesday night in a Fort Smith hospital where she had been a patient for a week. She leaves a daughter and a son both of Fort Smith and two sisters Mrs Niley Smith Jr of Cameron and Mrs F E Flinn of Corpus Christi.

Milam County and Cameron City officials study joining a council of governments to access Omnibus Crime Control funds for juvenile officers radio gear and training. Warning Issued On Hormone Herbicide Use In Milam County

Buckholts Soldier Killed In Vietnam

Army Sgt. Felix M Conde-Falcon of Buckholts was killed in Vietnam during a combat operation. He was 31, native of Puerto Rico, with wife Lydia and two children. Parents in Puerto Rico and Buckholts relatives await the sergeant's body. Surviving: wife, parents, son Richard Anthony, daughter Jennie.

Frank Richards Services Monday

Frank Richards 61 died Saturday in a temple hospital after a short illness. Funeral was held Monday at Marek-Burns Chapel with Rev J Lafferty officiating, burial in North Elm Cemetery. Born October 12, 1, he lived in Cameron area and worked as a plumber. Surviving wife, son Charles F. Richards of San Antonio, brother Beck Richards of Bryan, sisters Thurman Donaldson of Bryan and Grady Allen of Cameron, and two grandchildren.
