Mission Life at San Xavier in Milam County, 1748
In 1748 San Xavier Mission near Milam County grew under Father Mariano and Father Ortiz with French influence feared. Lieutenant Galvan led 30 men from La Bahia to defend three missions, a presidio proposed for safety, Apache attack on May 2 killed two mission Indians while soldiers and 200 Indians repelled the assault and drove away the horses.
