Austin Texas April 6 From present indications the penitentiary problem bids fain to solve itself in allowing convicts to work on county roads on the honor system with part of their wages paid to the prison system. The Lindale plan has spurred counties to seek convict labor and reduce prison costs.

L. L. Clark Dead After Heart Failure in Yarrelton

Waco Y M B league eyes extra rail service to Cameron
J C Dillard chairs the Young Men's Business League transportation committee in Waco with Frank Weil and Ralph McLendon. They met J S Peters of the San Antonio and Aransas Pass railroad to secure more passenger service to Cameron and the Cotton Belt east of Waco. A motor car service between Waco and Gainesville is planned, with ongoing work for eastward improvements. Dillard, former traffic manager for the Waco Freight Bureau, will continue aiding the effort.

Convicts on Road in Lindale Receive Pay Checks
Governor Colquitt issued pay checks for 50 convicts employed in road work at Lindale, Smith County. Forty seven men received 7.50 dollars each, two new men got 2.15 dollars, one parole violator received none. Transportation costs partly funded by the penitentiary and employers, total checks 357 dollars. Convicts earned 7.50 monthly with lodging and board, working without guards.
