Funeral services were held at 2 p m Monday at the family home for W O Newton 76 executive vice president of Cameron Citizens National Bank who died at 3 20 a m Sunday The Rev A F Russell officiated with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery Newton born November 17 1883 in Milano had a lengthy banking career including roles at Milano Rosebud and Cameron and served as vice president of Citizens National Bank from 1923 He was a member of the Milano Masonic Lodge Odd Fellows Woodmen of the World and First Baptist Church of Cameron Survivors include wife three sons one brother six sisters and two grandchildren The late son Bill Newton was killed in World War II pallbearers listed Burns Funeral Home arranged the services.

In Diocesan play offs last Sunday Cameron boys and girls CYC teams claimed titles. Girls defeated Lockhart and Westphalia to reach the final, then Cameron beat Fayetteville in the final. Boys semi finals saw Cameron beat Sealy and Westphalia beat Granger before Cameron prevailed in the final for a second straight championship. Jeannette Richter and teammates represented the girls.
