Cameron Public Library Considers Audio Visual Dept
The Cameron Public Library evaluates adding an audio visual unit with microfilm viewers and a combined record player tape machine to save space. The plan may aid blind readers and music listeners while 850 new books arrive in 10 days and 1 000 more are planned soon. Mike Swann, an Air Force member, spoke to Rotarians about an Easter Week 1966 Holy Land tour after returning from Istanbul. Cameron Wins First In One Act Play District Contest
Cameron placed first in the District 17-AA One Act Play contest last week at Yee High School. James Wilkerson and Barbara Jackson earned Best Actor and Best Actress honors. Hearne was second, Nava-sota third. Garlan Webb and Kay Nichols of Hearne won Best Supporting Actor and Actress. Cameron will stage Impromptu by Tad Moses April 19 at Texas A&M for the regional contest. Mrs. Mary Jean Edmonds directs. Lt. and Mrs. W. G. Dase Jr. welcomed a son, Brian Lester, born April 5. In Cameron voting was light with four votes cast for the school board race. Incumbents Charles McDermott and Forrest Sapps along with Dr. John Martin received 2, 77, and 71 votes respectively while write ins Don Humble J L Wied and Morris Eplen received ballots. Buckholts saw a 67 vote tie between Stanley Glaser and Elbert Svetlik and awaits a possible election.

An unidentified man in a 1951 Buick crossed the SH 1 median near Caldwell causing a fatal head on crash that killed Miriam Smith of Edcouch. Three other women Gail Thompson of Rockdale Kathy Dickey of Elgin and Linda Johnson of Thrall were seriously injured and transported to Scott and White Hospital Temple.

Final Title Budget Adds $138,194 To City School Funds
Cameron schools win final approval for a Title program budget of $138,194 for 166-67 after a reduction from $196,921. Federal funds drop trimmed the total, with $98,600 for administrators nurses and teachers aides, $14,086 for free lunches, $14,100 for leases and building purchases, and $6,690 for teaching equipment. Gains include added school items and listening systems, while after school study halls may be discontinued due to the cut.
