No changes in city officials after Tuesday election
The city election produced no changes to the City Council. Horstmann led with 142 votes while McDermott 183 and Terry 331 trailed. Old Standpipe in Cameron Gets Aluminum Face Lift
The Cameron standpipe, erected in 1895, is being refinished with two coats of aluminum paint by Dallas Service Company. Community Public Services Company notes periodic interior drainings and exterior repairs, and locals via the Chamber of Commerce requested the color change from black to aluminum. The 115 foot tower holds 175 000 gallons and represents the growth of Cameron’s water system from early primitive stages to a modern supply.
