State highways are passable with rough patches around Mineral Wells and in the northwest. Best San Antonio route via Rogers Holland Bartlett and Taylor is in fine shape. Kerb repairs completed near San Marcos and Kyle. Taylor route via Cavilla Bartlett or Thorndale Thrall is rough in places, Rogers alternative advised. Houston route via Hearne has rough spots near Benchley Courtney and Hempstead but overall passable. Council postpones confirmation of three Cameron school board members
The Cameron council postponed confirming A N Green J C Martin and B P Atkinson to the school board after Mayor J B White reappointed them for two years. The council debate showed active opposition and no action was taken on postponement or rejection. James Franklin Gibson, 86, longtime Cameron resident, died at his Lockhart home on Friday March 28, 1923. He is survived by his widow and daughter Mrs. Mary Eddie Green. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery after services at the First Christian Church conducted by Rev. T. F. Weaver.

Governor Neff vetoes Pope bill and other measures in Texas
Austin April 3 Governor Neff vetoed the Pope bill seeking to nullify state textbook commission awards and separate insurance and banking departments. He also vetoed four other measures and left fourteen before midnight. He argues contracts cannot be canceled without fraud and that the bill would impair obligations and risk book shortages.
