Two Arrested Charged With Dangerous Drugs
Mamie Johnson and Rodney Amy, both of Bay City, were arrested Tuesday and charged in J P Jess Brock's court with dangerous drugs. Johnson was picked up at Milam Motel for possession. Amy was nabbed at Duskes Pharmacy attempting to pass a forged prescription. Bond set at 1500 each. Officers Kent Butler and Ed Sexton made the arrests.

Woman dies in Ben Arnold home fire at 88
Mrs. August Boecker 88 of Ben Arnold died in a morning house fire ruled accidental by Cameron Justice. Neighbors say clothing caught fire while she cooked breakfast on an electric stove. neighbors extinguished the blaze and called authorities. Funeral held at United Church of Christ with burial in Ben Arnold Cemetery. Survived by son C. E. Boecker Buckholts daughter Anita Rathke Blieblerville five sisters eight grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Soldier killed near Cameron in highway crash
A Fort Hood soldier, Pablo Gustavo Deleon, 21, of C Company, 13th Signal Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, died when his car crossed Highway 190 nine miles west of Cameron and struck a culvert. DPS Trooper Leroy Broadus investigated the fatality.

City Council Election Tie and Meeting Schedule
In the city election two hundred votes each tied incumbent Gene Lumpkin and James Kahler for Place, with Mrs Lilly Hunter at 92. Unopposed Lawrence Zotz and Janet Luecke received 457 and 450 votes. A total of 501 votes were cast and council will meet Monday to set the runoff date.
