The Edwin Hardy Post American Legion unit formed a temporary Cameron auxiliary at a County Courtroom meeting on Wednesday. State president Mrs. F H Carpenter outlined aims and the process while district and Bryan officers discussed temporary officers and charter requirements. The first Cameron unit meeting will set a definite time and place, with a 30 day charter window and ongoing yearly plans to aid veterans and Texas veteran hospitals.

The Federal Tire Service will hold a formal opening on Saturday April 5 1930 with a reception and free gifts including a new Federal tire three tubes and a box of cold patches. Bill Talasek an experienced service station operator who recently bought the station south of the Coca Cola Bottling Company prepares for the event and invites Cameron and surrounding territory to visit. Rockdale Shooting Injures Two Men in Early Morning Calm
Two men were wounded in a Rockdale morning shooting at 10 30 Constable Wiley Williams and Claude Robinson were hit during an attempt to arrest Robinson for carrying a pistol. Six shots were fired. Both men were treated at Cameron Hospital. Robinson suffered a serious wound under the right eye but is described as recovering. Williams was not seriously hurt. Sheriff L L Blaylock and deputies investigated.

Topeka Musician Wounded On Train Near Brenham Caldwell
Paul Johnson of Topeka Kansas was found in the passenger coach of a northbound Santa Fe train with wrists slashed and a severed throat, wounded in a personal safety incident between Brenham and Caldwell. He was taken to Cameron Hospital where doctors expect recovery. His brother E O Johnson is with him in Cameron. Johnson had been in Houston on a musical engagement.

Railroads 10 Plan to Operate Track and Bus Lines
J. Carter, representative of H. M. Lull of Southern Pacific, addressed the club during the semi annual meeting. He outlined railroads plans to spend sixteen billion dollars in five years on new equipment and lighter metals to haul 30 percent more tonnage. He predicted railways may operate bus and truck lines on short hauls and convert some branch rail lines into highways for exclusive service. Carter, born in Cameron, noted his father W. B. Dickey helped bring the S A & P Railway to Cameron.

Herald Editor Discusses Fossils and Milam County Indians
J B White editor of the Cameron Herald spoke at the Lions Club weekly lunch about fossils and archeological work in Milam county and the life of early Indians.
