About two hundred farmers and guests attended the Eighth Annual Dorchester County Farm Bureau Banquet on December 1. County Agent McKnight acted as toastmaster with Dr. H. C. Byrd university president as principal speaker urging eastern farmers to better organize. The Sutton Male Quartette entertained and 4 H Club leaders spoke on farm programs, insurance, and youth work. Select Site For New Seminary In Cambridge
Bids for construction of a new school to replace the Seminary will open at the County Court House on Friday December 23 at 11 o clock. The building will be on a Glasgow Street site recently bought by the Board of Education and facing Mill Street two hundred feet back. The 51.3 acre site was purchased from Zion M. E. Church and others for a cost of about 155610 dollars. The new school will serve sixth and seventh grade students from the Academy Peach Blossom East Cambridge and rural districts. The Seminary dates to 1825 when built by Dr. Joseph E Muse and later became a public school with the Cambridge High School merger.
