Webster Company cornerstone laying at Kendall Square

City officials and Cambridge Industrial Association members attended the Tuesday noon exercises for the cornerstone laying of the five story Webster building in Kendall square. The cornerstone box held pictures of founder F S Webster and copies of local papers.

Mayor Praises Schools as Board Helps Plan Funeral

The meeting chaired by Charles F. Hurley pro tem addressed the death of music director John B Whoriskey and set up a resolutions committee. Schools will be closed Wednesday morning until 10 to permit funeral attendance. Mayor Russell attended and gavel was passed to Hurley. The State Board letter outlined salary contributions for a clerk, with the city paying more and the state covering the rest.

Cambridge Postoffice Site Inspector to Review Properties

Special correspondence from November 18, 1930 reports that the Assistant Postmaster General pledged plans will accommodate an independent Cambridge post office in the future and that an inspector will visit Cambridge on November 20 to assess proposed sites. The author will have inspectors view properties to provide necessary information while deferring site selection to the Post Office and Treasury Departments.
