O Brien Clarifies Iron Lung Gift For Cambridge Hospital

Daniel F. OBrien corrected a misimpression about the iron lung purchase for infantile paralysis care. He said 675 from the Birthday Ball proceeds plus 700 from himself and others funded the cost, with no bill from the National Birthday Ball Committee and an 800 deficit reported. Acting Mayor Sennett received the gift for the hospital and it was shown at Manhattan Market to inspire support.

Gas Electric Club Holds Arty Dinner Celebration

The Cambridge Gas & Electric Employees' Club marked its 10th annual dinner at the Continental drawing over 200 attendees. President Leslie Kewer led the event with speeches by Floyd O Campbell and H. Moore Jr noting growth from 220 customers in 1890 to 35,433 users in 1941 and 1000 kilowatts of capacity.

New Watson Funeral Home Opens on Magazine Street

Charles B. Watson announces a near completion of a modern Cambridge funeral home at 11 Magazine Street. The facility will feature a sanitary rubber-walled operating room, reposing rooms on the second floor, a private consultation room, an electric organ, air conditioned chapel, and separate Catholic and non Catholic obsequies. The former Dr Thomas J Partridge home hosts the project and public inspection is set for June 20. Body of Haddock Found Near Vineyard Sound

The body of Isaac T. Haddock 60 a former Cambridge Gas Light executive and vice president of the New England Gas and Electric Association was recovered Tuesday after his fishing drag boat was found off Gay Head Martha's Vineyard. The J Henry Smith crew from New Bedford spotted the body and handed it to Coast Guards at Woods Hole who sent it to New Bedford. Haddock had long been a leader in New England gas and electric circles.
